Gulab Jamun Recipe with James Rose Essence – Soft, Juicy & Flavorful

​​These delectable fried dough balls, soaked in rose infused syrup, is one the most loved dishes of our sub-continent. As the name suggests, these scrumptious balls are flavoured with Rose water, giving it an immense flowery aroma. Prepare this tasty treat at your own home with our James Rose Essence!



Ingredients:


For the Jamuns:


 1 cup milk powder

 ¼ cup all-purpose flour (maida)

 2 tbsp ghee

 A pinch of baking soda

 2–3 tbsp milk (as needed to form dough)

 Oil or ghee (for deep frying)


For the Sugar Syrup:


 1½ cups sugar

 1½ cups water

 ½ tsp James Rose Essence 

 

Instructions:


1. To prepare the sugar syrup, combine sugar and water in a pan. Heat until the sugar dissolves completely. Add your James Rose Essence. Simmer the syrup for 5–7 minutes. Keep it warm by slightly heating the mixture occasionally and placing a lid on it. 

2. For the dough, mix milk powder, flour, baking soda, and ghee in a bowl. Gradually add milk to form a soft, smooth dough. Rest the dough for 10 minutes.


3. Now for shaping the Jamuns, divide into small equal balls. Smoothen them properly to avoid cracks later.


4. Next, we fry the dough balls. Heat oil or ghee on low-medium heat. Fry the balls until golden brown, turning them gently all the while.


5. Now comes the most satisfactory part. Soaking. Drain the excess oil and immediately immerse the balls in the warm sugar syrup. Let them soak for at least 1–2 hours before you serve them.


Your gulab jamuns are ready now. You can serve them hot as well as chilled, they taste heavenly either way. These sweet, soft and juicy treats evoke a sense of nostalgia each time, in every heart.
