Why not take a break from your usual vanilla custard and try something new? Give this Fruit Chocolate Custard a try! It just takes 15 minutes to prepare and it will surely impress kids and adults alike. It is light and simple and has the smooth and creamy taste without the heaviness of real chocolate. This Chocolate Custard is great as a quick evening treat or a simple dessert after your meals. Here is the full recipe for you-

Ingredients:
2 cups (500 ml) full-fat milk
2 tbsp custard powder (Plain preferred)
3 tbsp sugar (adjust to taste)
1 tsp James Essence of Chocolate
Optional toppings: chopped nuts, fruits, or whipped cream
Instructions:
Step 1: We will prepare the custard slurry. For that, in a small bowl, mix 2 tbsp custard powder with ¼ cup cold milk (taken from the 2 cups). Then, stir them well until there are no lumps left. This is your smooth custard base.
Step 2: Next, we will heat the remaining milk. Pour the remaining 1¾ cups milk into a saucepan. Then we will add 3 tbsp sugar and heat on medium flame, stirring occasionally until it’s hot but not boiling.
Step 3: Lower the flame to medium-low. Now we will slowly pour in the custard slurry, stirring continuously to avoid lumps. Keep stirring until the mixture thickens — about 4–6 minutes. The cue here is that the mixture should leave a coat on the back of a spoon.
Step 4: Now, turn off the heat. Add 1 tsp James Essence of Chocolate and mix well. This gives it a deep, rich aroma without any heaviness or extra calories of real cocoa.
Step 5: Let the custard cool to room temperature. After it has cooled down, chill it in the fridge for 1–2 hours before serving for the best texture.
This Chocolate Essence Custard is a pleasant twist on the usual vanilla version. Plus, you get the rich taste and aroma of chocolate without the extra calories of real cocoa! This simple dessert has balanced sweetness. You can store it chilled and enjoy anytime your cravings hit. Add your favourite fruits as garnish along with nuts or dry fruits for extra crunch! Enjoy!
